Role: Senior Trading Controls Consultant

Vantage Point Global is supporting a major financial services client with a programme of review, remediation and uplift across its Trading Controls environment.

This role will support client-led remediation activity across Group Corporate Treasury and Business & Commercial Banking, helping to strengthen control standards, close gaps, and embed a more consistent 1st Line of Defence control framework.

We are looking for a senior, hands-on controls practitioner with strong investment banking experience, particularly across markets trading controls, control design, remediation and implementation. This role would suit someone who can bring peer-bank best practice, operate effectively under client direction, and engage confidently with senior stakeholders, including executive-level audiences.

What you will be doing

• Review the existing Trading Controls environment and identify gaps, weaknesses and areas for uplift.

• Support the design, documentation and implementation of controls to close identified gaps.

• Work across 1st Line of Defence control frameworks, helping to improve consistency, quality and effectiveness.

• Support remediation activity across Group Corporate Treasury and Business & Commercial Banking.

• Bring practical peer-bank insight into how controls are designed, evidenced and embedded in comparable investment banking environments.

• Work closely with senior client stakeholders to understand current control challenges, agree remediation actions and support delivery.

• Produce clear, high-quality control documentation, including control descriptions, process mapping, remediation outputs and supporting evidence.

• Help ensure controls are practical, sustainable and aligned to wider governance, risk and regulatory expectations.

• Operate as an embedded client-side resource, working collaboratively with business, risk, control and transformation teams.

What we are looking for

• Around 7 to 10 years’ experience in global investment banking controls, risk, governance or front-office control environments.

• Strong experience in 1st Line of Defence controls design, implementation and uplift.

• Good understanding of Markets Trading Controls and the risks associated with trading activity.

• Experience delivering control remediation, control enhancement or control framework uplift at a peer investment bank.

• Strong understanding of how front-office, treasury, trading, risk and control environments operate.

• Ability to identify control gaps and translate findings into clear, practical remediation actions.

• Experience documenting controls, control standards, governance processes and remediation plans.

• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence and gravitas to work with senior leaders and executives.

• Comfortable operating in complex, fast-moving environments where priorities, dependencies and governance requirements may shift.

• Able to work independently while remaining aligned to client direction, standards and delivery expectations.

Nice to haves

• Experience across Group Treasury, Corporate Treasury, Business Banking or Commercial Banking environments.

• Exposure to regulatory remediation, audit findings, control testing or assurance-led change.

• Experience working in consultancy, managed service or embedded client-side delivery models.

• Familiarity with large UK banking environments and group-wide control standards.
